Chinese Foo dogs may refer to any of the closely related dog breeds that have originated in ancient China and resemble Chinese Guardian Lions. They are often called as Lion Dogs. Chinese Foo is a breed of toy dog that were the most favored pets of Chinese Imperial Court. Foo or Fu is the Chinese word that translates into ‘happiness’ and thus Chinese Foo dogs are also called as ‘Happiness Dogs’. They have remained as the most revered breeds of dogs in Chinese history and several Chinese Arts depict Foo dogs.

Chinese Foo is a compact dog with an overall square profile. They come in three sizes toy, miniature and standard. Head is moderately broad with pricked ears. They have deep and moderately broad chest with a short, powerful and compact body, well-sprung ribs and short, wide and muscular loins. Its high-set and small ears are firm and erect when alert. Eyes are dark brown and almond-shaped. They have a very strong and muscular neck with a slight arch. Their legs are straight, firm, powerful and medium-length. They have double coat with a thick, coarse and weather-proof outer coat and a soft, silky and dense undercoat. Chinese Crested is an active, courageous, agile, intelligent and energetic dog.

Chinese Crested is a small hair-less breed of dogs, which comes in two varieties with and without fur. Size of Chinese crested is around 10 pounds in weight and 12 inches in height. Average lifespan is 10-12 years. Chinese crested has a soft, human-like skin as well as tufts of fur on its paws and tail. They have long and flowing hair on their head (that is why crested). Some of the breeds may also have fur on on their muzzle. They have a single coat that often has hairless parts on its body.

Coat of Chinese Crested Dog comes in a variety of colors ranging from pale flesh to black. Chinese crested dogs often lack full set of teeth. The overall appearance and look may vary with how the dog is groomed. With completely grown out fur on its face, it may resemble a terrier. Head of Chinese Crested looks like a fox in shape with a noticeable stop and finely tapering muzzle. Skull is slightly dome-shaped or rounded between its ears. Almond-shaped eyes are dark, alert and intense. Uncropped and triangularly shaped ears are spaced well to the sides of their head. Long and graceful is positioned high on the shoulders.

Estrela Mountain Dog is a breed of dogs that has been bred for guarding herds and homesteads in Estrela Mountains in Portugal for many centuries. Long coat varieties of Estrela mountain dogs have a thick and slightly coarser outer coat lying close to the body. Coat may be flat or wavy but never curly. Undercoat is dense and slightly lighter in color than the outer coat. Short-coated breeds have a short, thick and slightly coarse outer coat with a shorter and dense under coat and proportionate feathering. Coat comes in fawn, wolf grey and yellow, with or without brindles and with black shading all over the coat.
