English Cocker Spaniel is a breed of gun dogs that belongs to one of the several varieties of spaniels. English cocker spaniels come in two varieties ‘working’ or ‘field’ and ‘show’ Cockers. Both the varieties show a significant difference in the appearance and characteristics. Due to their happy disposition and continuously wagging tails, they are often called as ‘happy dogs’ or ‘merry Cockers’. Although English Cocker Spaniel is the cousin of American Cocker Spaniel but they look more like Springer Spaniels or Field Spaniels.
English Cocker Spaniel has a compact, sturdy and well-balanced body. Slightly oval eyes are dark brown in color with characteristic expressions of intelligence and alertness. Ears are lobular, reaching the tip of the nose when pulled forward. Ears are covered with silky, wavy and slightly longer hair. They are rather small yet not delicate dogs with softly contoured angles. Skull is arched and slightly flattened., muzzle being same in length to the skull. English Cocker is a dignified, graceful and well-muscled breeds of dogs.
