Staffordshire dogs also commonly known as the Staffordshire bull terrier or Staffordshire terrier are a breed of medium sized short haired dogs. Originally bred for bull fighting the dogs have evolved as a dog with high intelligence, courage and tenacity. They are mostly similar to the American Staffordshire terrier and the infamous American Pit Bull Terrier. They are characterized by their broad muscular body, relatively short foreface and pronounced cheek and occipital muscles. Usually weighing around 11 to 15 kilograms and standing up to 14 to 16 inches these dogs are very athletic and display a strong affection towards humans. Although they are not as quiet and reserved as other dogs they serve as a trustworthy all purpose dogs. Staffordshire terriers are also very adaptable when it comes to changing homes and owners making them more susceptible to dog nippers.  Their loving and sweet temper however makes them unsuitable to be trained as guard and attack dogs.
