Dog toothpaste like in humans helps protect from different dental maladies like tartar and gum diseases. When opting for toothpaste for dogs they should be selected considering the likes and preference of the dog. Usually a small sample should be tried at first. Meanwhile tooth pastes should also be considered for digestibility, ingredients used and safety among other things. Dogs are usually reluctant to having their teeth brushed, so it is the responsibility of the dog owner to create a conductive environment for the cleaning to take place. The experience can be facilitated by using flavored toothpaste which the dog will love, for example a paste with chicken flavor. Dogs are not as comfortable with baking soda and citrus based pastes. Therefore a little experiment is always advised.
