The English Cocker Spaniel inherited its name from its extraordinary skill at bird hunting, specifically the woodcock. As with other breeds of Spaniels, the English Cocker Spaniel was engendered for flushing out birds in dense undergrowths from forest areas.

Very handsome in appearance, the English Cocker Spaniel is a small and sturdy dog breed with a long, flat and silky coat.
