Black Russian Terrier (BRT) is a breed of dog that was originally developed as a guard dog and police dog. BRT originates from USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). Other names for BRT are Russian Bear, Black Terrier and Russian Black Terrier. BRT is generally a rare dog outside its native country Russia. BRT has great strength, athleticism, and courage and is larger than mid-sized dogs.
Coat of BRT is hard and dense, never soft, frizzy, woolly or silky. Coat is low-shedding and comes in black color or black with some gray hairs. They are powerful dogs with extremely well-developed muscles. They should have large and muscular shoulders. Head should be long, strong and block-shaped with a large skull. Nose is large and black with full pigmentation. Ears are small, triangular in shape and high-set. Neck should be muscular, thick and powerful. They stand 27-29 inches high at withers and have a weight of about 40-70 kg. Averege lifespan of BRT is about 12-15 years.
