Beauceron is a herding breed of dogs from the plains regions known as La Beauce, located surrounding Paris, France. It is also known by French Shorthaired Shepherd or Beauce Shepherd. Beauceron is the most ancient breed of dogs from France. With no known crossbreeding between Beauceron and any other foreign dogs, it remains as one of the major pure-breed of dogs from France. Aside from its other qualities such as loyalty, intelligence, friendliness and powerful, the purebred quality makes it one of the most beloved dogs in France.

With a fairly large and threatening appearance, Beauceron bears a slight resemblance to German shepherd dogs. Its coat is short, close and smooth except on legs, and tail, where slight fringe can be observed. Coat comes in black, tan or grey color. They are muscular and imposing dogs. Hind legs are highly distinctive with double dewclaws on each foot leaving them with six toes. Rather than being a defect, double dewclaw remains as the hallmark of Beauceron dogs. Height of Beauceron is around 60-70 cm, weight is about 30-40 kg and lifespan is around 10-12 years.

Coat of Bedlington terriers comes in blue, sandy, liver, dark brown, black colors with tan markings. Curling and dense coat gives them a non-threatening look. The coat becomes paler as the dog grows older however; it never becomes white. It has a wedge shaped head with triangular and sparkling eyes. Front legs are closer together at the feet than at the elbows. With its uniquely light movement, Bedlington terrier appears floating above the ground. Bedlington terriers are seemingly harmless but in reality, they are savage fighters. Bedlington terriers are most suitable as loyal family companion dogs. Its height is around 40-42 cm and weight is around 10 kg. Bedlington terriers have an average lifespan of about 12-17 years.

Belgian Malinois is a member of Belgian shepherd dogs from sheepdog breeds. Bearded collie is a herding breed of dogs that were once exclusively bred for herding primarily by Scottish shepherds. Nowadays, bearded collie is often bred exclusively for dog shows. Its country of origin is Scotland and it also known by Beardie, Mountain Collie or Highland Collie. Medium sized and agile dog, bearded collie is noted for its shaggy coat and never flagging tail. Beardie is related to the Old English sheepdog.

Beardie has a broad head, short muzzle and a shaggy coat all over the body including under the chin – that is why the name beardie. The outer coat is dense and weather proof and undercoat is thick and soft. Eyes are wide-set and the color of the eyes matches with the coat color. Ears are close to the head. Tail is generally carried low unless beardie is excited. Coat color changes several times during the life. Puppies are born with black, brown, fawn or blue color, which fades to light gray or cream. As the dogs mature, the coat darkens in color, which could be black, brown, blue or fawn. Height of the dogs is around 50-55 cm and the weight is about 15-25 kg. Lifespan is around 12-14 years.

Basenjis are an ancient breed of dog of African origin with an average height of 41-43 cm and weight 10-12 kg. The body shows two colors: neck, chest, tail and feet are white and the remaining body may be of black, red or tan color. Although the striped look of red and black is also not uncommon. The shape of ear and face gives Basenjis a look similar to a small deer. In spite of running and haunting being main characteristics of Basenjis, this breed is equally suitable for taming. Its short hair, wrinkled forehead and seemingly squint eyes make its appearance peculiar.

Some of Basenjis are able to climb on hind feet, but all of them have one thing in common that they are all mute dogs. In normal circumstances they do not bark, but when they do , they produce typical high pitch yodeling sound . They are very friendly, alert and curious by nature. This quality renders them suitable as the safe companion for children as well as other pets.
