American Pit Bull Terrier is amid-sized breed of Terrier group of dogs. They were developed in the nineteenth century by pairing bulldogs and terrier dogs in order to create a dog that combined the gameness of the terrier and the strength and athleticism of bulldogs. They are well-known for their intelligence, loyalty, strength and friendliness. Lately, American Pit Bull Terriers were subjected to negative publicity due to dog-fighting rings and frequent attacks on humans.
American Pit Bull Terrier is a solidly built breed with a well-defined muscular structure. Overall, it appears powerful and athletic without being bulky or muscle bound. Its head is triangular in shape and proportionate to the body. It has a broad and a flat skull and wide and deep muzzle. Its round and almond shaped eyes are set well apart and sit low on the skull. Its ears are small to medium in length. Its tail is thick and tapers to a point. They have a single-layered, smooth, glossy, short and coarse coat that comes in a variety of color. It weighs around 60-90 pounds and its height is around 19-24 inches. Average life span of American Pit Bull Terrier is about 8-12 years.

i have had different breeds of dogs, and out of all of them, i had a pure breed american pitbull, her name was Tracy and we got her in April of ’09, she passed away a week ago, at the age of 7 1/2 months, due to natural causes, and i am still reminising and in mourning, but in just less than a month, she was able to understand the commands it took my German Shepherd to learn. Sure she grew fast, but she was so loving, loyal, and obidient. She was like my child and i miss her so, as well as my German Shep, Brandy, who i am pretty sure realizes she’s not with us anymore.
i have a blue pit she is very out going i have had her since she was 4 weeks old and she will be 5 years this july i have one problem and i don,t know how to stop her my brother has a dog that is pitbull and lab but she does not like puppies or kittens and she does attack them we get on to her and when we do my dog thinks she has to protect the babies of all kinds how can i get my dog not to be so protective of babies they don,t even have to be hers for her to protect them when i brought home a kitten she fell in love and was very protective of the kitten and even as the kitten got bigger she is still protective of the cat
