Shitzu is a Chinese breed of dogs who is also known as Chinese Lion Dog and who is well known for its long silky hair. The actual Chinese term for Shitzu is Shih Tzu, which literally means Lion dog. Shitzu dogs can be found in many popular oriental arts including paintings of Chinese Guardian Lions. Shitzu is a small breed of dogs with an average weight of 8-16 pounds and height of 8-11 inches. They have a short muzzle and big, dark eyes. The coat is double coat and it is soft and long with heavily furred ears and tail.
Shitzu Shitzu has a very long and silky white coat that flows up to the floor and it requires daily brushing and care to avoid tangles and keep it healthy. Moreover, the coat is also fast growing and hence needs frequent grooming. The coat comes in many colors but the commonly found colors are gold, white and brown. Some breeds can also be found with solid blue, solid black and black and white coats. The average lifespan of Shitzu dogs is 6-20 years.
